Originally, this was a bedroom on the street side of the property and traditionally bathrooms were always at the rear of New Town properties. Capital A secured Listed Building consent to allow a bathroom to be located here, overlooking the street. Capital A then worked with the client to produce a highly distinctive and contemporary design for the bathroom.

The i Bianchi Palissandro wall tiles give the room a bright, yet warm feeling, which compliments the bath and basins. This is beautifully contrasted with the dark floor tiles and 'coffee bean' corian vanity top. The cantilevered, three bay, vanity unit was specially designed for the space by Capital A and manufactured by Adrian Scott Joinery, in Fife.

The free-standing shower enclosure is large yet it's transparency plays down its size and minimises the visual impact on the room.

For privacy, the existing shutters were refurbished and a new, electric blind has been installed as a modern alternative. The blind fabric is translucent, letting in light while preserving the privacy of those using the free-standing, feature bath.

Alternatively, the user can leave the blind and shutters open, to enjoy the view of one of the grandest streets in Edinburgh from the comfort of their tub.
